“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you.”
Isaiah 43:2
Have you ever felt like life has pulled you into deep water—where every wave hits before you can even catch your breath? The unexpected happens. The ground shifts. And suddenly, you’re desperate for something—or Someone—to steady you.
God promises that He is that anchor, and His presence is our peace—even when the waters rise.
Knowing that God is constantly at work in our lives is a beautiful concept to realize and to meditate on, especially during a period of transition.
Shortly after the love of my life became ill, “the raging sea“ began to overwhelm me. But in the midst of the turmoil — the constant care that my husband needed and the endless flow of people in and out of our small condo — God was working in my life to bring peace and comfort.
The early morning quiet times with the Lord helped me to focus on His Love for me and His never-ending faithfulness to be with me, and to grow me into a kind, caring, patient, and thoughtful woman.

“You rule the raging of the sea; when its waves arise, You still them.” — Psalm 89:9 (NKJV)
“… My love and kindness shall not depart from you, nor shall My covenant of peace be removed…” — Isaiah 54:10 (NKJV)
Yes, though I walk through the [deep, sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort me. — Psalm 23:4 (AMPC)
“… thus says the Lord, He who created you, O, Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: fear not, for I have redeemed you… I have called you by your name; you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you… the rivers will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned or scorched, nor will the flame kindle upon you. For I am the Lord your God….Because you are precious in My sight and honored, and because I love you, I will give men in return for you and peoples in exchange for your life. Fear not, for I am with you…”— Isaiah 43:1-5a (ESV)

Some Truths To Hold On To
- God rules over the raging seas in our lives.
- His love and covenant of peace will never be removed.
- No wave or fire can consume you because He is with you.
Pause & Ponder
God’s peace is not the absence of the storm—it’s His presence in the storm. The waves may still crash, but they cannot steal His love or silence His voice.
Where in your life right now do you need to invite Him to speak peace and love?
This week, find a few quiet moments to sit with Him, even if the storm still rages. Open His Word, pray honestly, and let His promises steady your heart.

Prayer
Lord, thank You for being the One who calms both the seas around me and the storms within me. Help me to trust Your presence when the waves are high and my heart feels weary. Teach me to rest in Your love and remind me daily that You are with me. Amen.
